David was born into cycling – into a cycling family more precisely. Not only does is there a successful business in Ireland importing cycling equipment and clothing, but also having gained immense experience over the past two decades from an organisational expertise role in cycling. Fifteen years at the UCI H.C.ranked Le Tour de Langkawi, four years at the Tour de France – cycling’s biggest annual sporting event – three years as Stage Finish Director for the UCI 2.1 Tour of Ireland and Chief Race Director at India’s first and only ever UCI cycling events Tour de India in 2010, 2011 and 2012. One of his biggest career steps was the creation of the UCI Continental Team – the Synergy Baku Cycling Project in 2013, based out of Azerbaijan with the ultimate goal of qualifying Azerbaijan’s first road cyclist to the Olympics, which ultimately proved successful with qualification for the Olympic Games Road Race in Rio de Janeiro 2016.
